In his current capacity as Professor of Public Relations and Social Media at Parsons The New School for Design, he has incorporated a guest speakers series into his classes which boasts a roster of industry heavyweights like Narciso Rodriguez, Mark Badgley, James Mischka, Bobbi Brown, Kate and Andy Spade, Tory Burch, Glenda Bailey (Editor-in-Chief, Harper’s Bazaar).
Thrice nominated and twice named runner-up for the Distinguished Faculty of the Year, Tom believes in “empowering the people that work with and for you”, which is why he is beloved by students, industry colleagues and clients alike.
His industry credits read like an issue of Vogue or GQ with key positions at companies ranging from Polo/Ralph Lauren to Badgley Mischka.Adding to his already stellar list of credentials, he has produced events in almost every major city in the U.S., including (as curator) the Helmut Newton photo exhibit for Wolford. Tom attributes his ability to cultivate and maintain strong personal relationships with key editors, retailers and stylists as the key to his success as a publicist. As a result, he has dressed high caliber A-listers like Brooke Shields, Elizabeth Hurley, Sandra Bullock, Drew Barrymore and Vanessa Williams. He has landed the coveted covers of InStyle, Vanity Fair, and WWD.
Tom pairs his academic tenure with his focus for developing and mentoring the next generation of publicists. As he interviews hundreds of students, to select them for 4 different public relations firms summer intern programs, Tom has his hands full!
